Nextion LCD for Duplex hotSPOT, RPi hotSPOT with fan, Repeater kit board

For Duplex hotSPOT

The are two ways,

1. Use modem in the hotSPOT board, 

4PIN show "LCD", pi-star Config MMDVM Display Type select Nextion -> Modem
HS RXD to Nextion TX
HS TXD to Nextion RX
HS 5V   to Nextion 5V
HS GND to Nextion GND



for Ver1.0.1( !! VCC,GND not same as Ver1.0)

2. Use USB to TTL adapter,


then in pi-star Config MMDVM Display Type select Nextion -> /dev/ttyUSB0
Note: Some USB2TTL adapt not work, had tested CP2102 / CH340 is OK, USB-STC-ISP do not work.
TTL RXD to Nextion TX
TTL TXD to Nextion RX
TTL 5V   to Nextion 5V
TTL GND to Nextion GND


For RPi hotSPOT with fan

1 Use board 4 PINs Display interface, follow the order.
Warning! Can Not Reversal 5V and GND!

2 Use USBtoTTL Adapter

For Repeater kit board


Just can use USBtoTTL Adapter, STM32F105 without serial interface

The way to Analysis and Feedback issue (Duplex_hotSPOT)

Analysis:

Check pi-star runtime logs,
Part logs:
Open http://pi-star/admin/live_modem_log.php
Then Press PTT,

UserGuide for Nano hotSPOT(blueBox)

Power supply requirements: 5V2A

Quickly start guide
1  Plug in the power supply , require 5V2A

2  Configute network for your Pi-star,

Way 1th: if there is a LAN port in NanoPi or RPi, insert RJ45 line, the routers automatically allocate the IP address, use a computer browser (must use Firefox or Chrome) to access the IP address, set up your personal information.

Way 2th: open the phone, search the WiFi "hotspot Pi-Star-setup" then join it , password is "raspberry" , use mobile browser ,visit http://192.168.50.1,  add the WiFi you need in the WiFi setup column (and add a WiFi principle to your new cell phone). * This way now just support inner WiFi adapter,not support USB WiFi.

Way 3th: Add a shared WiFi on the cell phone or router, the default access WiFi:

SSID:888888-2G password: 0123456789 ,visit the dashboard as follows
iOS shares WiFi hot spots: http://pi-star.local
Other devices share WiFi: http://pi-star
Login User: pi-star ,Password :raspberry

If the domain name can not be identified, use IP tool APP like “FING” to find the IP address of the box.

3 Configute your digital radio
The default setting frequency is 433.550MHz, DMR mode, time slot 2, color code 1, and DMRid 4600000
Private call to  9990 ,use parrot mode for echo test.

How to upgrade pi-star?

How to upgrade firmware?
from pi-star ver3.4.11, use command line as

sudo pistar-mmdvmhshatflash hs_hat #for RPi_Simplex_hotspot make by jTA 

If not successful,some old nano HAT need do more operation,connect the upgrade GPIO jumper.

Frequency restrictions to avoid satellite interference. Please avoid the following ranges: 145.8-146.0 MHz and 435-438 MHz, otherwise firmware will not start.

( 1 ) Get ready for pi-star OS,
Connect SMA ANT,Connect RPi to hotSPOT use GPIO.

NOTE: Ppzip the file ,write .IMG file to SDCard, not copy,not all SDCards can use for boot, Choose Sandisk or Samsung,8GB enough.

(also make sure expert mode Duplex flag 1 not 0)

( 3 )Set RX/TX MHz ,
Support UHF and VHF from Ver1.0.1,eg.

Attention:
set UHF TX - RX >= 5MHZ to Get better performance,
set VHF TX - RX >= 900MHzHZ to Get better performance,

Just work at amateur frequencies, and different countries have different amateur frequencies.



( 4 ) set RXOffset,TXOffset 
in expert mode,if BER >1%

RXOffset=-300

TXOffset=-300




NOTE:
* This value just for reference, see the TAG with the board 
* If your radio has Offset MHz, please adjust first


You can also adjust the parameters that make the Error Rate % to the lowest.






( 5 ) Program your DMR Radio(Also YSF/P25/Other)

Make sure that:

Radio TX = HotSpot RX

Radio RX = HotSpot TX

Color Code = 1 (same as setting as pi-star)

Repeater Slot = 1 (TS1 as brandmeister.network)

Repeater Slot = 2 (TS1 as brandmeister.network)
Close Allow Talk round option






( 6 ) Testing 

Dial private call to 9990(Parrot),listening your voice,in TS1,TS2

Dial private call to 4000 (Disconect tip),listening system voice ,in TS1,TS2



( 7 ) Set Static Talkgroups for Timeslot 1 and Timeslot 2 ,when use DMR mode, 
eg. https://brandmeister.network/?page=rep-edit&id=4600060

NOTE:Can use 4600060XX XX is 01~99 ,flag different hotSPOT
You must to Register and Login first.



( 8 ) Install Nextion and OLED for Duplex hotSPOT 
View HS board  Silk screen,
Nextion LCD: (NOTE: Ver1.0.1 VCC,GND not same as Ver1.0, do not reverse +5V and GND, otherwise you will damage your LCD circuit)
HotSpot +5V --> Nextion +5V 
HotSpot RXD --> Nextion TX 
HotSpot TXD --> Nextion RX
HotSpot GND --> Nextion GND

OLED: suggest use 1.3 inch
HS 3.3V --> OLED 3.3V
HS GND  --> GND
HS SCL  --> SCL
HS SDA  --> SDA

update current OS to the last: sudo pistar-update && pistar-upgrade
